Looking at the new Kettner's catalog I noticed that Sauer have introduced a new version to their 202 rifle, with laminated stock and now chambered for 416 rem. This gun is of highest interest to me as it is darn good looking, Sauer action has a very good reputation here and ABOVE ALL is available in left-hand. Do any of you have experience with the Sauer action, and if so what do you think about it? Would a Lott conversion be possible on this gun?

Any info much appreciated.

Thanks, KB

Is this new gun with hinged floorplate or detachable magazine?

sauers are like most other kraut guns to much technical stuff that sometimes doesn't work well in harsh conditions [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
There simply too much nuts, bolts and other stuff that can break.
I would choose another action to build a 458 lott on. Find an nice old sako/ winchester action that is long enough for a 458 lott or 416 rem. they should work fine. A friend of mine bought a new sako 691 action in germany. Sakos often house 4 magnum cartridges in the magazine. I think PME has a winchester style safety that fits sako.

Johan, the 202 has a detachable mag, that holds 3 or maybe 4 cartridges I think. As to the reliability of the action, it is very dependable in small and medium calibers, in big bores I dunno...

You cannt convert a Sauer 202 to .458 Lott as simple as with conventional actions by threading a new barrel.
The barrel has integral recesses for the bolt lugs.
