NO, and I suggest you don't try. you need to be more specific ie: bullet brand, style, weight, load ,powder ect...... Weatherby's are at thier best pushing 500's at 2400 or so. Which is actually downloaded. 9000 ft lbs..... [Eek!] [Eek!]

And even that's rarified air my friend. Most are plenty happy with about 2550-2600. Thats about as far as I've seen with hand loads. Even factory rounds don't hit 2700 99.9% of the time.

If you like nice bright extractor marks and belts swelled .006, then 2700 fps is PROBABLY max in a 460WBY. It's usually good form to stop when the primers fall out of once fired cases on extraction! I down load mine to 2500fps with 500 gr bullets and call it a day! The results I've had trying to push this cartridge are just a bit too scary.-Rob

The 460 is such a nice rifle with a 500 gr. bullet at 2400 FPS that I see no reason what so ever to increase the recoil, as you will gain absolutly nothing in killing effect. the only way to increase the killing effect of a 500 gr. bullet at 2400 is to make it a 50 cal. at 2400., and I'm not so sure that is a true statement.

I've heard a guy get in his weatherby rifle, 26 inch barrel,,with 125 gr. of imr-435o,,ca. 2750 fps with 500 gr.barnes-X, and Hornady 500 gr.
That's insane,,though he got none marks of too high loads,,which i find strange,,but hey,,there you got individual rifles !! [Wink]
The above load was a very hard compressed load.

OOOhhh !!
I forgot,,DON'T USE "ANGELDUST" IN THE PROCESS OF LOADING. PCP IS BAD FOR YOU ,,OK (Only kidding [Wink] )
your nickname is somewhat associated with the hallusinogenic drug PCP ,,which is said to be TEN time stronger than LSD !! [Eek!]
I have no intention of using of drugs as i despite it,,and have not tried,,,and "Angeldust",,will definitivly fuck your mind up ,,if not your .50 cal will [Big Grin] [Big Grin]
No offend,,just my sense of humour this night [Big Grin]

I'm Looking for some Data on Barnes 300's & 350's in 460 Weatherby. Also has anyone tried the lighter Original's in the 460. I have the Barnes Manual. I am looking for field data, how well have these proformed? [Confused]

LongBob - Did you crimp your loads? And did you measure belt expansion and/or see any even faint ejector marks on the cases? The reason I ask is your data is very similar to mine although you have some that was excessive in my rifle. I've talked to others who have gone higher, but they didn't crimp!--Rob

Rob,

I did not crimp any of the loads. There were no extractor marks or stiff bolt lift. I did not measure belt expansion.
