I said I would use it on deer this year and I did. Result was one dead doe. I shot her at about 150 yards hight in the front shoulder breaking her spine, only shot offered. I used 225 hornady with 61 gr of 5744. I watched her and another for a week before she came out where I could shoot so I took the first good shot. She was a very large, I would guess live weight at close to 200#s. She was a good deal heavier than a smaller 6 point buck I also took, only that was with my 243 with a 85 gr Barnes TSX.
Thanks to all who helped me find this load for the RUM..

TJAY, you need to hook up with Gohip2000, he got his MN deer opening day with 375 H&H

good luck, look forward to your report, send me a PM so I don't miss it

Cool. Deer River is about 80 miles exact north of where I will be hunting in Deerwood . If I get a deer this weekend, I'll definately give you a PM. Eventually, I'd love to hunt Alaska or Canada for some big bear. We have a good amount of bear in MN, but they are average size black bear. No contest for the 375, but still plenty different from deer.

The Remington factory 300-grain Swift load for .375 RUM worked great on a whitetail buck shot out of my tree stand a few years ago.
Same tree I shot Walter Deer and Doe Deer out of this year with the .395 Tatanka. thumb

I've been chasing them this year with my 375 Ruger also with the 225 gr Hornady (loaded down). Got one 3 years ago, same bullet, with a 375/284....

I was chasing deer over the summer with deer damage permits, I got eleven deer with my 375 Ruger and 225 Hornadys, the data said it should be moving about 2700. Not one deer went further than 30 yards and most just dropped. I don't really consider that hunting, more like shooting but the 375 is definitely effective. rotflmo Who would have thought? I had my doubts. rotflmo

Sweet. I loaded some Hornady 220 FP @ 2160 fps for my brother's 375 RUM. He like the 30-06 like kick, and the load was accurate as hell.

We didn't see anything decent deer this year, though. Frowner
