Any thoughts on aftermarket stocks? I know that McMillan and MPI make stocks for the 550 but at over $600 Cdn am trying to keep the cost down.
I keep hearing stories of the stock splitting but so far 38 fairly stout loads haven't done it yet.
The reason I am looking for a new stock is that I have Warne high QD rings on it so as to allow the bolt to open but when I shoot it I cannot get a good cheek weld on it and one of these days it's going to really hurt the old jawbone.
I recently saw the richards-stocks.com website and they look like fairly nice wood for an attractive price, anyone have any experiences with these stocks?
Any reccomendations will be greatly appreciated.......Thank you.....Yukon257

If that doesn't work, the laminates will do, but will take a lot of work. Put crossbolts in everywhere you can, whether walnut or laminate, or synthetic.
Nickudu has a line on a synthetic from RSA. They look a lot like a Bell&Carlson.
