Dangerous Game Cartridges - new book by Pierre van der Walt I have just received notification that these are now being shipped direct from the publisher. I have a copy of the promotional pdf flyer which tells you all about it. If anyone wants me to email it to them, send me your email address by PM. I can hardly wait until mine arrives! I'll let you know what it is like, but in the meantime... By the way, I back ordered my copy when I first heard of it. I have no connection to the author or publisher. On my wish list now. ____________________________________________ "If a man can't trust himself to carry a loaded rifle out of camp without risk of shooting somebody, then he has no business ever handling a rifle at all and should take up golf or tennis instead." My copy shipped today. BUT, although I am sure the book will be histroically accurate, it was probably written before the #13 solid, noncon and Raptor work. This means that applying the lessons from this book to future choices should be done with a awareness of the work being done on the TBP thread. The #13 solid, noncon and Raptor have created a change that can never be undone. If I ever hit the lottery, I'm going to have ammo loaded in each PH's caliber of choice and sent to him/her for his/her own testing. What I would expect to happen is that a tension between the historical experience of the PH and the results of the experience with the "new" bullets will result. It would be interesting to see how each PH handles that tension. | |||

Got mine a couple of days ago and have not been able to put it down. It is a must have book but IBT is right, it was written before the CEB solids and the Woodleigh Hydro. Mostly he evaluates the various caliber with respect to their performance with 4th generation convention bullets. With respect to the 10,75X68mm Mauser, he really takes issue with John Taylor. It's an excellent read.
