Okay,
You guys really could have helped me and talked me out of getting something I have absolutely no real need for (does anybody?) - a 600 OverKill
Here are the particulars per Ed:
1. A nice piece of English walnut for the stock.
2. African Blackwood fore end tip.
3. Sling barrel band and matching stud in stock.
4. 2 mercury tubes in butt.
5. 1 Decelerator pad.
6. Front banded sight.
7. Rear sight adjustable.
8. 26 barrel with added recoil lug 3 forward of receiver face.
9. AHR X muzzle brake.
10. Metal grip cap.
11. Custom detachable 1 scope rings.
12. Gun-Kote finish all metal parts.
13. 2 cross bolts in stock.
14. 4 panel hand checkering on stock.

Probably won't make it to my October Colorado elk hunt, but Ed promises me it will make it under the tree for Christmas '04.

Wonder how it will do during Spring Turkey season

Stay well all,
Paul

Doc- Next you'll want a 12 Ga FH for those Turkeys! I hear that a 2000gr slug at 2000 fps is just the ticket when they charge! Congrats on the .600 ok. You made the right decision!-Rob

CCM Doc,

I am sure you will love the 600 OK.

I was surprised, however, to read that you will use a Decelerator pad. Personally I have not found regular Decelerators to be very effective and would use an F990 on something as brutal as the 600 OK.

Also, it is possible to put a mercury tube in the forend as well as the buttstock.....

Have fun!

Good choice, did you order the CZ action or the GMA action?
Of course, now you must order some brass, order may be going in shortly for Horneber 500 OK brass via Robgun builder. Must be at least 7-8 of these either completed or in the build stage currently.

500 - I will ask about the F990 - I'll take all of the recoil reduction I can

Dak - It is GMA action and I have asked Ed to get the brass. I expect that he will get it through Rob.

Ed suggested no cheekpiece on the stock. What have you guys to say?
Stay well,
Paul

Doc-going with the GMA is the right choice. I will get the brass and yes go with the F990 pad. A cheekpiece is optional. I have one with and one without! looks like my reamer will get another workout as I talked with Ed today! You will absolutely love it!!-Rob

I hope that f990 pad reduces recoil by a bunch as it is BUTT ASS ugly!! I was thinking about covering mine with leather but I think it is too soft.
