.376 bore?- Help desperately needed Login/Join

I went to the MRC web-site to place the order for the barreled action in .375 Wby., but the barrel they list has a bore diameter of .368 and a groove diameter of .376 (compared to Krieger at .3660 and .3750, respectively). This seems really bizarre to me. Does anyone have any idea what this could be about, or if it even matters? Of course, the easy solution is to just use someone else for the barreling of a new MRC 1999 action. I was just really hoping to use MRC for the whole barreled action as it is a better bargain and they did a great job with a .340 I had built last spring (sub-MOA with factory 250 gr partitions-the only load I have tried so far). These bizarre barrel dimensions almost make me tempted to go to a MRC barreled action in .416 Rem. Mag. instead (still w/ 22 inch barrel), or even a stainless Ruger No. 1 in .416 Rigby as my Alaskan all-purpose (except offensive actions against brownies) rifle. Any thoughts as to either the barrel dimensions or the above mentioned option would be greatly appreciated.

This is strange and I'd email MRC and ask if this is a misquote....if not I'm inclined to find a barrel that is .375 groove diameter. There's no shortage of good barrel makers out there.

Frankly, I doubt there's much performance or accuracy difference in the .001 larger bore.....but would still like the .375 diameter.

That MRC rifling is both .0010" excessive in groove, and it is .0010" shallower in the difference between land and groove (.0080" difference).

I would not be happy with those specs and would want a .3750" groove and the deeper engraving (.0090" groove - land) shown by Krieger.

.008" may be standard, but not good with excessive groove depth.

I really think all .375 rifles should be standard 12" twist and .375" groove. The rest is OK if .008" or .009" for land height above the groove, i.e., bore of .3660" or .3670"

IMHO, just from the peanut gallery.

RIP,
Thanks for the advice. Looks like I will either get a different barrel or just go with a MRC barreled action in .416 Rem. Mag.
