| Its easy you only need one powder for the 416 Rem mag Reloader 15.It will work in all bullets from 300 gr to 410gr.I shoot 78 grs of reloader 15 with those Barnes 400 gr x bullets and the 400 gr Barnes solid.I have a practice load I also shoot .Its the speer 350 gr mag tip .They run about $20 for 50.I have two loads ,my fun load is 76 grs of reloader 15 and max is 83 grains of reloader 15.I have shot my 416 rem mags ,I have 3, a little over 2000 times altogether.I shoot a standing bench.I put a milk crate on the bench and then a 30 pound bull bag on top of it.It is alot funner to shoot that way.I also use past pad.I have shot my 416 rem mags 150 times in one day. This was after 300 rounds of 338 win mag.Its alot easier to shoot standing than standard bench rest.Midwayusa is the place for brass. Its about $170 for 500 thats cheap for this big gun.The nickle plated brass is very good. Its thin brass but it hold up .I have loaded one piece 17 times before I quit.I think the 416 rem mag is way more versitle than the 458s.You can book that 300 gr Barnes about 2950 easy with a nice charge of reloader 15.I like the 325 gr Barnes x bullet but they quit making it.I got 2800 fps from them. Its very flat shooting with the 300 gr x bullet.I also shoot 410 gr woodleigh bullets with about 78 grs of reloader 15.I got my 24" Winchester Express rifle to shoot them almost 2500 fps with a max load.I also have two Remington Big Game rifles I love. They are my brush guns with 22" barrels and only weigh 8.5 pounds loaded and scoped. The Kevelar H-S stock on it kicks way less than the heaver Winchester wood stocked gun. |

| I haven't tried the 400 grain Barnes X but my rifle has a 3.85" magazine so maybe I should give them a try. I second the recommendation of RL-15. I typically load 76-84 grains in 1 grain increments when trying out a new 400 grain bullet and 79-87 grains when trying out a new 350 grainer. I get an easy 2450 at 50 degrees F out of my 22" barrel with a 400 grain trophy bonded and 82 grns of RL-15. Please start at 76 grains and work up though as I have noticed large flucuations in different lots of RL-15. I had these loaded up and my rifle sighted in for them when I went deer hunting. I shot a spike and a doe this year with this load. I was amazed when I found that the Trophy bonded will open up on small central Texas deer after only 6"-10" of penetration. I think the 416 Remington is really all the gun a hunter needs for hunting anything, anywhere with today's selection of premium bullets. That being said, I'm going to pick up my 458 Lott from the gunsmith tommorrow and I'm waiting patiently for a Montana rifle Co. PH action to build my 505 Gibbs based wildcat on Good luck with a great cartridge, ---Catter |

| I have been shooting 78 gr. of RL-15 for a long time and never felt any reason to use any other load..I use it with all bullets. It is mild and you can go up to 82 grs. or more in many rifles, but I see no need. |

| Hi Mike:
I have a custom 416 Rem Mag... the magic RL15 did not work in my rifle, neither did Hodgon Varget, or 4831.
My Magic recipe is 77.5 grains of IMR 4064, Federal Brass, CCI 250 mag Primers. Shoots 1 in. MOA @ 100 yds. both Swift 400 Grn Aframes, and Barnes 400 grn solids. Also shoots both bullets to point of aim. From my Chrony, averages about 2500 FPS.
Just for your Info, took a nice 46in Buff in 02 In Tanz with this load.
Regards... Jim P |

| Much the same as everyone else, except my barrel is a touch slow. 78 grains of RL-15 is a maximum loading in my rifle, using the Barnes 400 X (moly coated or "XLC") and the 400 Super Solid. They shoot to very strong <1" groups, individually and to the same 2" group, collectively. Last time chrono'd, I got "SD's" of 2,337, 2,338, 2,340, 2,340, 2,336, for 5 shots. With the 350 "X" (molycoated), my best loading is 78 grains of IMR-4320 for <1/2" groups @ 2,525, average. This loading is also maximum in my rifle. As I say, mine is a touch slower than most. |
