500 A2 Project
Hello

Thanks to every one for their input regards the question I had for twist rate on a custom barrel.

Several members advised me to have a barrel lug.

Pac nor tell me they do not do this.

Is there a barrel maker that does, or do I have a lug fitted by the gunsmith after the barrel arrives?

All advice appreciated

Stu

pacnor may not finish it, but they will leave a washer.

McGowen WILL do it, and are great folks to deal with.

About Tuesday, for what its worth, they will have my 500 AR reamers and dummies, if you want to consider that.

You most definately need a front barrel lug on a 500a2. Otherwise you will split WHATEVER stock you put on the gun. If you have trouble PM me and I can make one to fit your barrel.-Rob

Ditto what Rob said. On my barrel, my smith made a barrel band rear sight base that sleeves over the barrel, has a recoil lug on the bottom.

If you're going with McGowen, give me a week or two to get it done - but I'll send my 500 A2 reamer their way.

Let me know - Bryan

McGowen can duplicate CZ's contour including the rear sight base and recoil lug otherwise referred to as the "knuckle". I just sent a project to them as well and requested a CZ style contour but about .050" heavier for weight and balance. Rodney.
