Urdubob,
I don't believe that is the issue since there are no screws. The CZ is a dual dovetail flattop and I just installed QD rings on the action.

I did not remove the scope to see if it fixed the issue but I can't imagine it would... Can you?

Short of dirt the only thing I can think of is warping of the stock so severe that it has torqued the action.

Possible causes with mauser actions:

Rear action screw protruding above tang.
Extractor retaining band not flush with bolt body.
Bent ejector.
Bent extractor.

Crosshairs-

Try to remove the firing pin/bolt shroud assembly from the bolt and then stick the bolt back into the action to see if it will glide smoothly. You need to isolate the problem by removing one component at a time from the bolt assembly until the problem is found. Good luck!

If the only thing you did was to mount a scope, the likelihoods are good that one or more of the scope mounting screws is too long. Back them out and see if the binding disappears. If so, snug them one at a time checking for binding between. This should isolate the problem screw or screws.

Good luck,

Clean the bolt and receiver internals good, then wipe on a little "Rem Oil with tefon" all over the bolt body.

If this is not the cure, then look for mechanical problems.

I pulled my .416 Rigby out this weekend to install a new scope on it and for some reason my bolt got really "sticky." It started as just a little resistance about half way and now it's sticking so badly I can hardly get it in and out. I can't figure out where the problem is. It is usually butter smooth.

Anyone else experience this? Any idea what the issue is?

Thanks!

Check the length of your screws...Some are dill and tapped on the rear bridge all the way down into bolt channel.
