I decided to have my M70 416Rem plated by Armoloy of Fort Worth Texas with their Armoloy TDC. http://www.armoloyftworth.com/Armoloy_WebDevelopment/We...rms_Applications.htm I decided on Armoloy over standard Hard Chrome because it is micro nodular unlike the HC which has micro cracks. I chose Armoloy of Fort Worth because they've been coating firearms for over 30 years. They offer the option of Armoloy inside the bore. I cannot find enough independent info on this and would like some input pro and con prior to sending the rifle. Thanks, Gary

Gary I am familar with the Armoloy finish as it has been around for @ 30 to 35 years, but I did not know they put it on the inside of the bbl. I would think it would have 2 advantages, rust protection in wet weather and maybe increased bore life. I would contact the company and ask what they thought about it, THEN I would ask them how many bbls they have done on the inside and get some phone numbers to talk to past customers. I know it is a good exterior finish if you like the color. If you do not you can always paint it, and still have the protection it offers. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

I honestly get kinda nervous when somebody starts talking about coating the inside a barrel with some type of finish. I may be conservative in this regard, but the only thing I want inside my barrel is copper fouling - no finish. I don't know if Armaloy will help or hurt a bore; but I wouldn't personally want it inside my barrel. As for the exterior of the rifle, I've never had any dealings with Armaloy but I hear wonderful things about this finish in terms of durability and abrasion resistance.
