Where do you sight in the irons on the big bores? But 100 should just be a tad bit off at 50 and be more useful?

Thanks

I don't see a whole heap of difference between 50 and 100 yards. I want them dead on at both ranges without worrying about adjustments, flip up leaves etc.

I sight in at 50 and check at 100 with open sights.

Yup....If you're shooting at targets so small that the difference in elevation between a 50 and 100 yard sight in is making a difference then I suggest you ask if you're using the right gun for the application!

At that range, you haven't got time to think and having shot with a gun where you did have to make an adjustment (ie it shot slightly high to the sights), it is a PITA.

Fifty yards is my big bore iron sight zero. With that zero I am good from spitting distance to 100 yards with a dead on hold.

Remember that sighting in and shooting at short range is affected by the height of the scope above the bore. Ballistics computers will ask you for this value. Generally not an issue with Iron sights.

With my rimfires, I tend to sight in 1 1/2 to 2 inches high at 50 yards to eliminate error if I shoot at longer ranges.

Fifty should be good but it has to be dead center.I am glad my rifle shot a bullet dead center, off the bench at 50 both today and yesterday.A good barrel should extend that zero out to 100yds.I thought my older Ruger had it but that's not so because it was shooting really good.I am going to load up fifty 500gr a-frames for the next time out.
