What is a ballpark figure for weatherby custom shop rifles? If anyone knows a website with a price list that would I would appreciate that also.

Go to their website

www.weatherby.com

and select the custom shop option which is at the menu on top of the opening page.

Basically the have three ways to go. The first is a product upgrade. As an example the Wbys I have are the custom shop barreled action which includes the all steel bottom metal. In the Product Upgrade area you might have a 30/378 or 338/378 done in a wood stock.

The second way is one of their "pre packaged" rifles and these include such guns as the Safari, Crown Custom, DGR.

The third way is a "build your own" set up. That will involve more expensive wood, perhaps having the Krieger cut rifle barrel and action work done. You might also select a different barrel contour than is normally offered for the calibre.

Hello,
As mentioned above, the "build your own..." feature is fun to play with and doing so one day, my custom Weatherby ended up just a tad under $8,000.00. Mind you that was a long way from what you could actually put into the rifle, but was pretty much tricked out short of full engraving, very high end wood, etc. Is that a high number for a Weatherby??, depends on your perspective and pocket book I would guess.

A Weatherby Custom will cost you about $3000.00 with everything if you skip the wood and go for a synthetic stock.

Skip the Titanium Coating as I don't think they do it any longer and those are MSRP not what you will pay at the store.

They don't.

It might be different in America but in Australia any of their rifles that are not catologued cost far more than what the increase in US recommended retail would indictate.

For example, if you did a Crown Custom in 378 Wby or got one with the better wood the increase in price would be much more than the increase in recommended retail would indicate. They appear to change the deal with the distributor.

The other thing I have learnt with Wby is (price apart) is you get a better rifle when it is a non catologued gun and you go through it with the custom shop.

The off the rack or production, if you can call them that, rifles are very good. The full custom shop gun is excellent in my opinion. Weatherby rifles are always more expensive from non US dealers as one would expect with any other product due to exchange rate differences, import duties, freight, etc. You could buy a pre-owned one but getting exactly what you want would be tough and they don't depreciate that much so probably best to order from the custom shop and wait if you have the patience.

No, what I mean is that if a non catologued rifle is 10% higher in recommended retail the actual price will increase by much more than 10%.

As an example, the difference in price between a standard Crown Custom, Accumark or Deluxe all matches the the percentage differences in recommended retail. But "go off catologued rifles" and it all changes.

As a side note, the custom shop is extremely god to deal with. Even though I am in Australia they phone and email to confirm shipping dates etc.

HS Precision is completely fucked in this area. Perhaps they don't have the mark up of Wby custom shop.

These people who talk about the rifle feeding upside down don't have the actual experience to tell them that the 378 based Wby calibres and HS Precision rifles are such that you could swing from the cartridge like a monkey from a branch Big Grin

Understood on the margins. Agreed on the communication. I'm fortunate as they are just up the coast from me in central coast wine country. FYI - the absolute best Zinfandel on planet Earth comes from this area.
