About 3 months ago I bought a SS Ruger #1 in 458 Lott. I have always been a bolt rifle guy now trying to get acclimated to the Ruger #1 action and just don't think my follow up shots are as quick as with my controlled feed 458 Winchester 70 Safari. The difference in recoil of the Lott may be a small factor but to me it's more with the function of the action. From you guys perspective with more in the field DG hunting experience, which is better as a DG rifle, the bolt gun or the Ruger #1? Bolt action - preferably a CRF - wins hands down. Some will say a double is best, but I personally prefer a good bolt action any day..

I used a 416 Rigby No.1 for six seasons as my only gun. You get fast with practice. I was as quick as most but not as fast as a bolt action in my hands. With practice it is a good gun for DG. I would still lean on a bolt though. WOODY Everyone is allowed an opinion, even if its wrong.
