| Ming, under the principle that the slower a bullet goes the deeper it penetrates, I want that 500 grain bullet to just barely exit the barrel - maybe at 200 fps. If the penetration proves to be better than the 45-70, then I will try lobbing the bullets underhand. |

I am not sure if that principle is entirely true but I am not the expert so I cannot agrue about it. However, I believe that there is a balance point where the penetration is optimum for a certain bullet mass and below and above this point, negative effects will likely to occur. John Linebaugh did a lot of handgun penetration tests over the years so you may want to read some of his articles. Have fun and please keep us posted. Thanks. |

| i am going to beat ANY penetration test int eh world...
i am going to make a 100 grain .177 airgun pellet, and try it with 2 pumps on my old benjamin rifle...
should make about 75 fps, and I can drill a hole to china, if mr garret is right about high SD and low velocity.... on hard cast lead
