I also have a CZ fit with a McMillan, and yes, less drop at heel than CZ American stock.

And I have the obscure (here) Arm-Tec stock which is a Bell&Carlson clone from RSA. It is a negative-drop stock, heel is higher than nose of comb, and I had a 1.5" Pachmayr Triple Magnum pad added to it to increase the LOP. Now that may make a difference in perceived recoil for me, as it makes a .378 Weatherby quite gentle, but it is useless for iron sights, great with a scope.

I like Lux stocks. I like the American stocks too. I am adaptable. Many Americanos are merely put off by the appearance of the Lux profile, but would be surprised to see how shootable they are.

Given the choice between a Lux and an American CZ stock, I would go with the one that had the better wood grain layout and secondarily hope for some pretty tiger stripes. Then one could reshape the Lux if it made his eyes sore, as JCN says he plans.

Hmmmmmmmmm,

Who do I try and piss off, my uncle Will, or my bastard brother (and fellow quack) RIP? Darn it, they are both making some sense tonight.

I was doing my gun slut routine at my Boise home away from home last week. They had a brand new Lux, and a brand new American style, both in the plus sized action. The American stock does have some drop to it, but it's one RCH less than the Lux.

The American stock has a lot more meat on it around the action, and especially up through the fore-end. I have big meat hooks for hands, but the American stock was too big for me in the fore-end.

Either style will need two cross bolts and half a bucket of Marine-Tex for bedding.

My solution was to give the schnabel a nose job, flute the comb a bit, reshape the cheekpiece and contour the grip a touch. Not hard to do (especially when your gunsmith used to be a cabinet maker). Now it looks good, and feels good also. The McMillan safari style stock for my 416 Rigby is a much straighter stock with minimal drop. It does soak up the recoil slightly better than the wood stock, but the cost is difficulty getting my head down enough to use the iron sights.

Take comfort in the knowledge that no matter which stock style you buy you will find that the other style fits you better.

I like the lux stocks and have a .458 lott with one and a .375 H&H as well as a 9.3x62 all cz's of course. They feel fine to me at least.
