I looked at the ruger hawkeye and tried to find the $300 difference between the 375 ruger "african" and a regular wood stocked Hawkeye in .338 for example. Since they are both standard length actions and it does not mention the "african" is a stonger action, is the only difference the open sights?? If so....Wow $300 sights - they must aim themselves. If I am way off on this I would really like to know. Are there upgrades in the African?? Thanks Lance Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com

the upgraded rear sight and the cross bolted stock are the two obvious ones. Either one of those options can cost that much from the better custom smiths. Wheter or not it is worth it I suppose depends on the buyer. If you don't have to have a 375 then the 338 looks to be the better bargin. Anyone who claims the 30-06 is ineffective has either not tried one, or is unwittingly commenting on their own marksmanship Phil Shoemaker Alaska Master guide FAA Master pilot NRA Benefactor www.grizzlyskinsofalaska.com

With crossbolts it makes sense then - I didn't notice them. It makes sense providing that the sights aren't cheap. They don't look cheap from the few photes I,ve seen. Thanks, Phil. Lance Lance Larson Studio lancelarsonstudio.com
