I have booked a beautiful Sauer take down with two barrels: 8x 68 and 416 rem mag.
Someone said me this gun usually loose his accuracy after few shots and I'm very worry about this.
Someone have experience about this rifle and can say something about this accuracy for long time?

Mario,

Forget what 'people' say. Every rifle is an individual, so your rifle will have its own 'character'.

What those 'people' might be saying is that they can't shoot those cartridges without developing a severe flinch after a few rounds. Wink

Mario, The Sauer takedown I have experience with is very nice, no problems at all. I certainly have nothing bad to say about them. I believe Alf has a couple as well. I know he has a bunch of the Sauers as he steared me into them in the first place when I ran into a bargain. I just dont remember if his are takedowns or not.

Educate me please. I thought that all Sauers (SIGs) 202s were takedowns, the diference being whether they were "quick" or not. ie. Some have a one piece stock with a long bolt that must be released, while the "real" (quick) takedowns had a two piece stock with a break just where the bolt would be when in a closed position. These seem to be (much) more expensive as well. I have been toying with the idea of getting one of these, but, with the price of spare barrels being so high, I could buy a whole CZ rifle for the same money!

There are quite a few versions of the Sauer 202 depending on wood, finish, barrel contour, etc. There is a Hatari model which is destined for Africa Hunting as well. The Hatari model is also available in take-down. Check out this two barrel set:

Guys,
I dont know if the Hatari is now available in Italy.
Hatari: http://www.sigsauer.de/index.php?id=260&lang=en
I think the Sauer I bought is the 202 take down standard ( also expensive).
standard: http://www.sigsauer.de/index.php?id=241&lang=en
off course the Hatari looks much better.
I'm agree with Alf the gun is very ergonomic and go very easy on the shoulder. And is one of the reasons I liked it very much.
I'm agree wiht Alf also about the accuracy of the system not affected by the barrels switching because the bolt "auto headspaces" on the barrel by locking into the breech end of the barrel. The rifle looks very accurate but I never tried again.
But I hope will be not only a very nice gun but also a very accurate for lot of time

Peter, You and ALf both answered your question. It is mostly symmantics but I consider the older style 202's more of a switch barrel then a true takedown. The two piece stock "fast takedown" is what I was referring to rather than the older style when I said I didnt know what Alf owned. Great guns no matter what and I have been very happy with my purchase. Mine were leftovers from the ShotShow a couple of years ago. I will say it once again, thanks for the advice Alf.

The whole takedown idea has me interested. I first read of these in a James Bond book where he had a Mannlicher take down rifle of some kind or other. The "interrupted thread" idea seems to be the most prevalent, but I wonder if these would "wear" in some way. In any case, the "fast takedown" seems to be much more expensive now and I am not sure it is worth it to me, other than as a conversation piece.
