22WRF.416 ----- .458
How come one doesn't seem to hear too much about anything between the .416 guns and the .458 guns.
One would think there should be something in the middle like a .435 Magnum or something like it.

425 Westley Richards.
Would it make much sense considering the 416's of all sorts can handle the majority of things.
And the 404 / 416 Rigby were such a good cartridges it kind of killed the rest up to 458 ?
Just my view.

Because there is not much point. The .416's are probably the best all-around cartridges, and the .458 is a step up in oomph and recoil. Ain't much need for anything in between, except for marketing purposes.

LionHunterI think Bill nailed it down. My .416Rem will do anything a .375 will do and do it better. My .458 Lott will kill anything on this planet.

Yes, but wouldn't a .435 do both with just one gun?

LionHunterActually, the .416 will do it all, including Ele. I just prefer the margin afforded by the larger caliber.

The difference between a 416 Anything or a .423 404 Jeff and .435 anything
is not great enough to warrant creating a cartridge.
And then you have to get Factory ammo or bullets, brass (if the round is
not using a readily available cases) and dies.
Some people just like convenience which can still be had with 404 or 416 if needed.

Frank MartinezEveryone always forgets the 11.2x72. It is indeed more difficult to find and probably to build but I feel it is well worth the effort.I think quite frankly we are well past the point of buying with need and specific performance as required requisites to satisfy desire.
401 grains @2400fps and elephants drop on demand. I haven't done that yet but the fellow I got the rifle from spent several years doing so in Zimbabwe. There is an article in Rifle Magazine about this rifle and his 500 J. in Rifle #144 N-D 1992.
Some people fear the rebated rim but I have never had a problem and there is an article with photographs somewhere out there that was written by I Believe Brian Marsh showing Bill with 4 expended rounds in the air all at once.
I would love to see that. I cannot even do it with my .375 or 30-06.
