Hello Karl,

As someone who uses an 8mm Mauser, I am definitely a novice to the big bores of the world.

I am presuming the 585 round on Reloadersnest was your design from your posts here? Do tell us about it as they classify it as distinct from the 585 Nyati.

Good hunting!

Mehul,
Mine was made in 1999/2000 from the 585 nyati reamer but longer 3.1" case length for around 200gns water capacity. I think 2350fps was about the most my batch of bertram handled with 750gn bullets-around 9300ftlbs.Has a rebated rim because the smith was worried about the bolt face in the CZ550.

Nothing wrong with the 8mm mauser. I'm a 7.62x39mm man myself and only got right into bigbores when I lost all my high capacity toys to our gun laws.

Karl.

Ho Hum, light load- The .700 RLG IMP hit 3075fps with a 1000 gr bullet. Paul Zorn the African PH and our own Ray Atkinson ( via Paul's whinning) can personally attest to that.-Rob

Like something I can well do without! There hasn't been anything that load would be useful for on this planet since the Jurassic when the long-necks were wondering around.

Bloody hell! That means over 21,000 foot pounds of energy!

In an 18 pound rifle, it would mean something like 380 foot pounds of recoil energy!
