470 MbogoThe interesting life of an action
How many changes has yours been through. I had a 25-06 that I shot out that had a second life as a 7mm STW that was a lesson in frustration, that became a 300 Winchester that kept the agravation level up with creeping bullets that is now a 300 Weatherby which is proving to be a good choice.
A second action, a model 70 that was a 338 Winchester has now become a really nice 375 Weatherby.
My 470 Mbogo on the 602 action was originally a 375 H&H changed to a 375 Weatherby changed to a 416 Rigby and then into the 470 Mbogo.
How many lives has your action seen?
Take good care,
Dave
A BRNO ZKK 602 in .375 H&H became a 22" barreled .378 Wby and then got rebarreled to .510/460Wby JAB, which could become a switch-barrel for a 500 Mbogo. Salute to the 470 Mbogo.

A CZ 550 Magnum in 300 Winchester got rebarreled and opened up to .458/.338 Lapua number two, then got synthetic stocked and rebarreled with a fluted stainless Lilja in .375/.338 Lapua.
A BBK-02 action became a 460 Wby and then got rebarreled to 470 Mbogo. That 460 Wby barrel got chopped off at the threads and became .458/.338 Lapua number one.
.395 Ruger Max could go in many more: M98, M77, or M70.
.395 Tatanka in the rest.

lawndartOne AR-15/M-16/M-4 upper receiver started out as part of a 1:9" HBAR knock-off, went to dedicated 1:8" free floating service rifle, then went to Iraq with my youngest as a 1:7" by 16" medium profile "recce" upper, and is now back home and about to be turned into an 18" 1:8 SPR upper with Larue rails.
Let's hear it for the small block chevy of poodle shooters.

gumboot458....RIP ,.,

It,s just NO Fun playing , hammer scissors rock with you if you are going to use 4 hands and include Dynamite.......... How about a CZ 550 Saf Mag with the Bavarian stock in 300 win mag , becomeing a McGowan barreled 416 Rem mag with an MPI stock that duplicates the velocity of a 300 win mag shooting a 180 gr bullet only with a 300 gr Moly tumbled X bullet pushed by 87 gr of H 4895.. From a 22 " barrel....A stainless Ruger 77 338 that worked great but became the Spruce King and lived an adventurous 12 years and killed a few boat loads of animals but has now lost its 458 Shilen barrel and was given to a close friend to become thier bear dumping , probable 416 Taylor...

ireload2My grandfather's joke was the rifle had so much work done to it that the only thing original left was the hole in the barrel.

RobgunbuilderI have a Rem 700 switchbarrel that goes from a .270 win to a .458 lott with a .257 wby, .300wby .300RUM and .338 RUM along the way. Twelve barrels in all. I blueprinted the action and use its dimensions for all the other barrels. I have both a magnum bolt and a std bolt that are fitted to the gun. I screw new barrels on and off with just hand tightness and have dedicated scopes for each barrel. Oh yes the .257wby will shoot .5MOA groups all day long.-Rob

BuddyK-91909 Argentine started as 8X57; then rebarreled to 2506 and a great shooter should have stopped there but didn't. Next to 257 Weatherby but started to set back the lugs so cleaned them up changed bolts and blocked the magazine and rebarreled to 257 Roberts and had a great little gun but why not try a 250 Savage so I did. Oh well it was fun.
