I think Heym needs to hire Gunmaker, or someone else suitably qualified, to help them with the styling of both the metal and wood on that rifle. I see a lot that could use improvement and it probably wouldn't increase the cost of the rifle at all.

KimR summed it up pretty much as I see it. In a nutshell, the rifle is slab-sided and boxy looking. I'm not just picking on Heym, most factory rifles share similar traits. Nice looking guns are distinguished by many subtle curves and angles that all tie together. The problem is that all these subtle curves and angles are looked upon by some "factory efficiency experts" as just another machining step that can be eliminated.

Some of what bothers me about the Heym is just a matter of style; for instance, I don't think that case-coloring and bolt-jeweling belong on the same rifle.

For the price Heym charges for a rifle like this they could turn out a much more visually appealing version.

the difference between a classy rifle&a club in often just a few extra thou here&there.eg,pre war S/G M-70s vs 50s vintage.let a few thou in foreend,tang, bolt handle,etc.creep in&remain over the years&grow a few more-the CLUB results.not to pick on Win;look at pre-war Purdeys,H&H,Boss,even early Fabbris vs.recent efforts.progress doesnt always =improvement,usually=cheaper production costs&higher sale prices.seems like the extra 10% in quality&style costs an extra 5Xs.

Bad mouthing the rifle, I don't think so, just saying that they would prefer it slightly different; as do I.
There isn't enough contrast to bring out the real beauty of this rifle, just take off the small parts like the safety lever, bolt release and floorplate release and have them polished and rust blued would make the color case "pop" even more than it does. Also have the floorplate blued, engraved and maybe a little inlay of initials would also bring out the color case-hardening even more; and what about adding a color case-hardened skeleton steel grip cap checkered to match the grip wood I'd also like matching color case-hardened quick release rings with blued release levers to mount a scope, or remove the square bridges and tapped holes if the rifle was going to be iron sights only.
The changes I'd like to see just make it more beautiful to me, they don't mean that I don't think the rifle is very good looking as it is.
