Perhaps this is overkill what I am considering. Unfortunately, I often come down with a case of magnum-itus. My first 2 centerfires were a 25-06 and then a 416 Rigby Ruger No. 1. My father and I are each doing a Siamese Mauser conversion. His with the standard 45-70. For me, once I recalled the 450 Alaskan, 45-70 just wasn't enough. Wound up with the equipment to do a 450-348 improved in the end. Discovered sometime back the 510 KE, and while I am set with the 450 for the first one, I would consider making another one in 510 KE if possible. But I don't know if it will fit in a Siamese action. Does anyone have any experience with this cartridge-action combination. Also does anyone know where you can get chambering reamers or dies for it. The only place for anything on it seems to be McPherson's, but all of his work seems to be limited to lever-actions. Does anyone know if he sells reamers or chambers a standard barrels for said cartridge. Any knowledge on this would be appreciated.

The 510 KE is a 510 Wells Express minus the irritating belt. I still have my reamers, and you can use 510 WE loading dies. Too long for the Siamese. A 50-110 Win would fit. Rich DRSS

I was under the impression that the 510 Kodiak Express was shorter than the 50-110 Win., which I thought it was a take off of. http://www.levergun.com/Marlin/images/7.jpg 50-110 on left and 510 KE next to it.

The 510 Kod. Ekp. is shorter than a 50-110. It is longer than a 50 Alaskan and shorter than a 50-110. I have one in a Marlin lever action with a 23" barrel and the ballistics with the 23" barrel are quite impressive. Mine was made by Mic Mc Phearson a few years ago and is a truly wonderful gun to shoot with 450 grain or 500 grain bullets. When pushed, I can get 5600 to 5700 ft.lbs with it. I believe it over all brass length is 2.73" and 50-110 is about 2.82" in length. The 510 KD is about 23 hundredths longer than the 50 Alaskan. These numbers are off the top of my head, but I think they are right.

You'll need rotator cuff surgery before you can tell the difference in max loads. Max oal for the 110, for my 1886, is 2.74". The Siamese will be about the same, since the original 8mm was 56mm long case. Rich DRSS
