CZ 550 Magnum bolt handle Login/Join

Just wondering why CZ puts such a lousy bolt handle on the 550 magnums. It seems inferior to what they put on their other rifles. The handle is short, and the worst part is, the sharp edges of the open area in the ball of the handle, dig into the hand when cycling the bolt. Mine is a 458 Lott.

We're shooting this big cartridge with a milktoast bolt handle????

Is there a good reason for the design?

No answer but I agree with you, especially about the sharp edges. Mine is a 375 H&H. I have been thinking about finding a gunsmith who cam weld it full and round off completely round. I like the perfect ball on the bolt handle of the '96 Swedish Mauser.

The only reason I can think of for the design might be to save an ounce, but on that rifle???

Send it to Wayne at AHR. He'll get everything all filled and straightened out.

ZLR,

So how much? I've had mine replaced. Replacements are the only option at present.

I liked hollow pear-shaped bolt knob on my 602s. It was better then screw on ball on CZ550 Medium I used to own.
