Looked like pretty good shooting/practice to me, not to mention that he reloaded without dropping the butt.

shootaway - looking at your videos, I think you do an excellent job of preparing for hunting. You certainly aren't intimidated by the Lott!

One question. It seems that your first shots are well out from the bullseye and widely separated. Then, you begin getting better and better. Do you know why this is? It seems the first shots will be the important ones in actual hunting.

It's the same with dry firing.I am very rusty when I just pick up the rifle and try to quickly aim while it is moving and time the trigger release just right. The first shots are always the least accurate.Once I get warmed up the task becomes much easier and more accurate. There are also times when I should not be shooting but resting and the results show that. There are times when I will not shoot for a week or two and then when I shoot the first round I say to myself that round kicked ten times harder.Although I do not find the actual shooting intimidating,I find that I am effected the following days if I shoot many.I am now limiting the number I shoot and look forward to practice and fun with a 308 instead. While hunting, when we stop for breaks, I am often trying to warm up by shouldering and aiming the rifle.
