Has anyone seen one of these yet? Does it have a 24" barrel and open sites like the rem website states? I had assumes it would be a 26" barrel with no sites like the previos models. TBH I would be fine with sites but I want the longer barrel. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

RM, Their website says the magnum XCR calibers come with a 26" clean barrel. I would ask your local Remington dealer to order one, and see what comes. We don't see many of these rifles in Southern California. jim if you're too busy to hunt, you're too busy.

Yes but the specs page says it has a 24" barrel with sites. http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_r...el_700_XCR_specs.asp -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

I initially had one on order last year that never happenned. I saw one at a gun show in December and honestly - I cannot recall the barrel length but I do not recall sights and I thought the stock looked terrible and the finish is not all that appealing. Everyone's taste is different but I would recommend looking at one before committing your dollars. I am a Remington fan but hated this one.

I do like the rifles. But if I was to get one, it would be in the 375 ultra and I would prefer it to have a 26" barrel. -------------------- THANOS WAS RIGHT!

My 2001 BDL .375 ULTRA has the 26" bbl. It's just that I've changed the stock; took off the sights; added a Police & Military scope base; etc. ____________________________________________ Did I mention, "I REALLY LIKE GUNS"? Why should the stock be any better than the rifle? They match! ....Mac >>>===(x)===> MacD37, ...and DUGABOY1 DRSS Charter member "If I die today, I've had a life well spent, for I've been to see the Elephant, and smelled the smoke of Africa!"~ME 1982 Hands of Old Elmer Keith

I was just in the shop of our local Remington warranty repair shop and he had just recieved an XCR that had a cracked stock from the very first shot in the rifle. Apparantly the shooter was using factory Remington ammo and since he was starting the break in of the barrel fired his first shot, stopped to clean the rifle and saw the crack in the stock. End of range seesion right there. There must be a good deal of recoil in these guns also since the 375 Ultra only weighs 6 1/4 lbs without scope, etc. If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. Canuck32, Are you sure they only weigh 6 1/4 lbs.? I thought they were heavier than that... I heal fast and don't scar.

Yup that's all they weigh. I thought my scale was off so went and checked the scale with a test weight. Unfortunatly it was bang on. If you look at the XCR 375 barrel at the muzzle there ain't very much material left there. If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. I had a Savage in 458 that was 6and 3/4 pounds.I sold it very quickly.I guess those recycled milk carton stocks just wont take the recoil.I asked Weatherby why they didnt make any guns 378 or larger with fiberglas stocks. They said that none they tried would take the recoil.I think a laminated wood stock with some wood removed might work if it had cross bolts.I passed on a Remington 700 classic in 375H&H because it was 6and 3/4 pounds also.I have two 7.5 pound 416 rem mags with hs presion stocks from the factory that have held up just fine.I want one on my 416 rem mag in a model 70 express rifle.
