I had a couple MRC 1999 actions several years back. I bought them around 2003 or so. All of them left a bit to be desired at the time I also had 4 of the PH actions on order.

I understand there have been a lot of changes at MRC in the past couple years. Has the quality of their products improved of that time as well?

Yes it's cocked, and it has bullets too!!!

I hope so, I was in on the PH fiasco and bought an H&H length action in the meantime.

Seemed a decent enough action except for frequent misfires. Got in touch with MRC and they were rather nonchalant about it and admitted that they sent out a lot of weak firing pin springs. No offer to replace the spring and the bad taste from the PH have steered me well away.

Had the same deal with a Brockman built MRC in .458 Lott. I found out about the problem while sighting in at camp in Zimbabwe!!! Mad

Brockman "fixed" the problem. The rifle went to the next gun show. MRC had better have gotten it's poop scooped in any case I'll just pass on any and all MRC built rifles or actions.

I guess I got lucky, I have serial number 0005 of the left handed, stainless short actions and it was great right out of the box.

Just wondering, I had the spring issue show up while I was in Namibia, and swapped the spring with a wolf spring I had brought along that I figured I'd never need. I also had major problems with the height of the rear ring as well as the alignment of the scope base holes on 3 of them. I was thinking about one of the PH actions but not unless the quality has improved a lot.

I have a PH 505 Gibbs. No issues whatsoever. Feeding, fit and finish are excellent.

My .505 has a great trigger, smooth action and fit/finish is tight. I am extremely pleased!

I'm waiting for my 505 to come back from the checkerer. It was built on an MRC PH action. If there are any issues with feed and ejection, Griffin & Howe is only 12 miles from me. They've slicked up a few of my African rifles.

Retired people should not be shooting 505 gibbs. You need to sell it ASAP.

I happen to have a MRC .505 Gibbs action which I will never use, since while waiting for it, I had a .505 Gibbs built on a Granite Mountain action. If anyone is interested, give me a PM.

I actually bought two of the actions, and traded one to Lon Paul, who used it to build a spec rifle which he later sold, I believe to an actual PH.

This is the rifle Lon built on the MRC action:
