"New" Brno ZKK 458 Lott
Fellow AR compadre "billinthewild" kindly passed this 1972 vintage Brno ZKK602 on to me. Originally a 458Win issued to Jon Speed ("Original Oberndorf Sporting Rifles") by the Tanzanian Game Department when he was a Game Ranger, it changed hands and was modified by Patrick Holehan of Tuscon to Lott as well as some cosmetic improvements:

Very interesting that his rifles end up in Tucson. I have his last 375 Brno602. Was My first rifle I used in Africa and still my favorite. Interesting story goes with it. I bought in a friends gunshop in Tucson and the day I picked it up Jon Speed was there and commented that looked like his last rifle he had in Tanzania. He then proceeded to take out a pocket notebook and read the serial number from it. He said it shot good and hoped I had great success with it. It does and I have.

With a story like that it's seems obvious to me that this is a rifle that was designed to be passed on. Pm me I'll give you my addrress!

Thanks for the nice comments gentlemen, I'll have it at the next "bubba" shoot.

Oldun, I think it was another poster on AR who said we are only custodians of fine rifles as they last longer than we will if properly cared for and should be passed on and used.

Nice, including the pop-up peep.

Just gotta remember to thumb that "hammer" back like a wheelgun.

Zimbabwe....I had the chance to buy that rifle along with the .458. The .458 came from Murphy's as well, but I was put on to it by Jay Angevine, a pal of Jon, who had them and then consigned to Murphy for sale. Both very fine rifles, as you learned with yours. thumb
