I have some discontinued Barnes 450 grainers that have a B.C. of .472.

I was wondering if there are any very high B.C. 45 caliber rifle slugs out there that I am not aware of. Just looking to do some fun, long range plinking with my Weatherby.

There are some 2.72 B.C. .458" bullets "out there" but you can't drive em fast enough with a Wby and you won't have enough freebore to load em ...

I have some Barnes original 600 grain .458 I shoot in my 460 Wby.

THey have a great bc, I think it is the same profile as a stone brick!.

My 460 really likes 500 barnes X and I believe they do have a good bc. The 450 barnes X are great.

Not sure how much free bore is enough, but I once tried to seat a 500 gr. Hornady RN out far enough to touch the rifling. Couldn't do it. I neck sized about 1/8th inch of the neck and started it just enough to stay in the case. Didn't touch.

I have one box of those 600 grainers too. Haven't tried loading them though. The 450's I have do have a decent B.C. Just thought it would be interesting to try some with a boat tail.
