Well, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I own my own business along with my brother, it is a pawn shop.(I did not get this rifle there, unfortanetly) I just ventured into the big bores, I picked up Browning Safari Grade in 375H&H, I believe it is a '59. I am looking forward to learning more about big bores and big bore hunting.

Welcome aboard Jason, this rifle might be your first big bore but I bet it won't be your last big bore you buy.

Welcome Jason. Before long, it won't be enough to own a big bore but you'll have to use it on hogs...then you'll want to take it to Africa. You can resist the force but resistance is futile (how's that for mixing movie lines). BOOM

I'll be down in Ft. Worth this summer. I used to go out to that State Park in Weatherford to rock climb and hike.

I messed up on the date, I am thinking it is a 63. Is there someone who may know by the serial number? 63298Lxx is the serial number any idea on the year?

Thanks,

If you find a gun bible, it'll have the data. I don't have one w. me in SC, though.

Is this a trick question dude? It's made in either 1971, or 1972. Gee, I can't decipher that XX yr. of manufacture thingy. I will put my chips on 1972. hillbilly

Sorry, not meant to be a trick question. I finaly, found a site that had all the variations of Brownings serial numbers, it is a 72.

Now, my next question what is a short extractor compared to the long extractor. What are the pluses and minuses?
