Jeffe, I have to say that I coudln't vote on this one. I don't think you spent your time on the thread very well, the guy obviously doesn't do business in a way that some of us approve and it was a waste of your time. I don't think though that anybody was a Jackass. Surely you weren't for spending your time trying to point out the wrong turn you feel another member got. And you can't really say a businessman you is able to keep plying his wares is a jackass if he is successful at it. I worked for a guy once that was a dick head, he was so good a salesman he sold computers TO SCHOOLS at double the cost to build them. But he wasn't a jackass! :-)

Now the buyers, are they jackasses? hmmmm....that is close, no offense to those here who bought them. But I have to wonder, when you know going into it that delivery is for crap, why do it? There are other options, other manufacturers. I tell you, if I had to wait over two years for a bullet to arrive it had better be magic and I had better be able to just throw it at animals and kill them.

OH yes there are some magic bullets! Haven't you heard of those 45-70 bullets, that kill elephant/buffalo at 1000 fps? They even get faster, if they come out of a Marlin GUIDE GUN, all the way up to 1500fps! Admittedly, you can get those bullets faster than two years from order.

MacD37,

Are you sure that is the bullet or is it a combination of the bullet's shape, metallic construction (hard cast lead), and heavy for caliber weight, and sweet spot velocity (1100fps - 1700 fps). I have also been told that the fact the bullet is loaded into a case with insufficient powder capacity is also IMPORTANT, but I don't know if I trust the sources of that last bit of data.

I have been told that the reason these bullets do not penetrate to China when dropped on the floor is:

1.) Since the are hard cast lead the melt in the very hot "center of the earth"; therefore ending the journey prematurely.

2.) There is in reality a sweet spot velocity which exists, depending upon whom you are speaking with (Guide gun or pistol shooter), between 950fps and 1700 fps.

Personally, I believe #1 more than #2.

AC,

Your number one is correct, but this is not due to the temp sensitivity so much as it is to the aging, see, if you waited two years for those same bullets they will have "set" or "cured" if you will. Then although they will start mushrooming close to the core, they will have good weight retention when it comes out at Tiananmen Square.
