Does anyone make a left hand bolt rifle in .40 caliber or larger for under $ 1500.00 ?

Check out buying a Montana 1999 barreled action and add your own sights and stock. You should be able to come in around that price range.

Not long ago you could buy a Mod 70 and buy a .416 take-off barrel and make the swap for that much, but now....

If you're interested in the Montana option I might be able to find one for you and put it together for you. I'm currently working on one (lefty) in .416 Rem for myself.

High Tech Customs will convert the M70 into a 40+ caliber big bore.

Here's their listing;
Change Win M70 to feed large mags -$250 - 460, 416, 378 Wby cases

I emailed and asked if they could convert a Ruger 7 Mag into a 416 Rem Mag or a 404 Jeffrey and they said "Yes"

Here's their link:

Hey Fjold! Have you had any work done by Richie at Hi-Tech? I've been going to him for years (and he still hasn't thrown me out, even though I stop by at least once every two weeks). He built a mirror-image pair of 6.5 WSMs for my buddy and I, one is a lefty, the other righty. Each has an extra barrel in .338 WSM. They shoot so well that people don't believe me until I show them the targets.

There are usually one or two left handed 416 rem mag model 700s on Gunsamerica. Those are about the cheapest one you will find. Its hard to find a right handed 416 for under $1000 these days.

Try finding a lefty!

I haven't had any work done by Hi-Tech, I just found the site as I was looking for someone to rebuild my lefty M77 into a big bore.

I think you could buy a used left hand action and send it to Roedale precision and have him put a 416 Remington on it and a McMillan stock and be under $2000.

I can build you one, especially if you want a 416, 458, or 470 AR .. which is the cheapest route to 500gr at 2300+fps.

remember, then 3 most expensive things you can do to a rifle

3: make the rifle feed a longer cartridge
2: make a custom drop box (and longer) that sticks outside the original stock
and number 1, by a MILE, is...

1: making a stock to fit your dropbox!!
