This may have already been covered; if so, please accept my apologies.

I had a short chat with Buzz at Huntington's a few days ago. They have a healthy supply of Graeme Wright's Third edition of Loading and Shooting the British Double Rifle.

Graeme dropped the copies off in person since he is over here flogging the latest edition. I am waiting for my copy from Oz (Get in a hurry and end up last, eh?). It seems there is a lot of newly presented information that answers many I Wonder About This or That type of questions.

Compared to so many of the artifacts that we spend a lot of money and debt on, a double rifle has really benefited from CNC machinery to do the basic work and leave enough time for hand finishing without putting the price in the stratosphere.

American Hunter recently had a well done piece comparing the Blaser, Heym, Krieghoff and Merkel entry level double rifles. It will make arriving at an informed decision much easier.

This is just a little FWIW post. Thank you for taking the time to glance at it.

LD,
With regard to the application of modern machining techniques to doubles, have you seen the work-in-progress thread on the Damascus actioned .22 Hornet double here? Also mirrored on NitroExpress.com . Neat stuff!

There was a bit of a delay in John's despatch of the first lot of 80 [!] books [from a thread over on NitroExpress.com forums about this], but they've been posted this week, according to the e-mail confirmation I've received.
Edit: It arrived today, 21 September!

Cheers,
Doug
