Just came across this monster from Joseph Hambrusch the .600/538 Mega Magnum which they claim fires a 722 grain bullet at about 2150 fps. The company also makes bolt action rifl;es in .700NE and "lesser" bores. [Wink]

Wonder what the experts here have to say about this. Please click on the "News" icon on the site for details and pictures of the round.

Thanks in advance and good shooting!

Hubel! Is it possible to build a .700 HE so it looks like that Hambrusch rifle in .700 NE? But with a longer barrel?

Thanks!

The 600 Nitro isn't bad, but the 700 looks like a basketball stuffed in a sock. I think I'll stick with Rob's 600 Overkill-1 and go to grad school instead.

Overkill-It might be long enough for my 700 HE.
It is large enough in diameter.Try to find out
how long the magazine box can be.Definitely
want more
barrel. It looks almost as big as a Mc Bros
action..Ed.

Johan,

I thought the rifles were interesting, but beauty does reside in the beholder's eye! [Smile]

As far as advice is concerned, I know MUCH less than 90% of the members here to advise anyone on anything about guns. All I'm trying to do here is learn.

I have read that in the old days Jeffery etc made bolt action rifles for the big rimmed nitro express rounds - I wonder if anyone here owns any and if they do, would they post pictures so that we could see how much better(?) the older ones looked? Of course the Hambrusch should be flawless in it's function, looks or no looks. Wonder how the old guns shot and functioned in comparison.

Thanks in advance for the information.

Be nice just to have the Mega Mag action.
Measures on a picture big enough for my 700 HE.
Action is nice.Beautiful designed action. Throw away the awful stock and light barrel.
Use a longer heavier barrel.Use a straighter,
less magazine bulge type of stock, with full sized forearm.A magazine that holds two is enough,
as you better run if you ain't stopped whatever
is coming, with 3 shots from 700HE....Ed.

Looks like our .550 projects are right on the mark. Their bullet dia is .552. RNS

If you guys search around the site a bit, there is a video of a man shooting the 700 nitro 3 shots... turn up the volume and listen to him just before he hoists the rifle to his shoulder... he grunts!!
I thought that was kinda funny

RNS--I don't know if we could afford their barrels, but at least it is being done. For the money they charge for stuff, I would want
horsepower enough to get that
552 bullet to be able to go about 5ooo fps.

<P>Been thinking, which definately
is dangerous.Would you be interested in upping
the power, by straightening Chey-tac cases, belting case and
going to .558 bore. 558 MAGNUM has a ring to
it.The cases would last forever even at good
velocity loads..Ed.
