A local shop in Fort Collins has a CZ Safari Classics 550 in 416 Rigby with the pop-up peep in the rear bridge. Nice wood through the butt. It’s used, but in immaculate condition. The price is $1295, but I think it can be had for less. I have no connection to the rifle. The shop is “Rocky Mountain Shooters Supply”. Google them for their website for contact info. They also have a cz in 505 Gibbs for about $2500.

I had a CZ 550 in .458 Win. Mag. but looked at one at the same shop in .416 Rigby at the same price as the .458.

As much as I wanted the .416, I bought the .458 because even handloading it was going to cost about $4.00 a round to shoot the thing.

The 416 Rigby is expensive to shoot, but as long as one keeps it away from prairie dog towns and target matches, ammo costs won’t pile up too much. Same for any big bore.

Is that an original or an after market custom feature. I wish I could see pictures.

Naki, I have one of those in a short actions with the pop-up peep sight. Factory Brno 601. Was in 308. I re barrelled with a medium weight 358 Win, 20 barrel. It's a cool little bang-stick.

Classic off the shelf BRNO ZKK 601 and was common on all .375 & .458 - at the touch of a button the recessed sight with a decent aperture of about 3mm which was pretty accurate for closer distances would pop up.

Probably the best rugged, indestructible model BRNO ever produced. Pity they don't make them no more.

Go discover it on the wonderful world of Google Wink

It is an original feature available through the cz custom shop “safari classics” line. Use google images or go to CZ website catalogue. Google images is faster.

I have had my eye on that rifle for over a year now (I live just north of Ft. Collins in Cheyenne). I'm pretty sure when I first saw it that it was marked at somewhere around $1800 so they've come down quite a bit. The wood on it is a lot better than nice I think, it's pretty much spectacular. That's a very nice rifle, and at a good price. I wish someone would buy it so I could get it off my mind.

Not too many years back when Gander Mountain was in business, and had open racks so you could really do some looking, I was in the Tyler, Tx store and found 3 Safari American models, one each in .375 H&H( with beautiful wood), a .416 Rigby, and a .458 Lott. They had some kind of special going on, $150 off so I went with the .375 thinking that I could afford to shoot it more, especially considering the cost of .416 components, and I already had a Ruger #1 in 458 Win Mag.

I had actually gone home, thought about it called them and they agreed to hold for two days until I got back. The first time I had it at a local range a gentleman came up and recognized it, and told me he was a day late and would have bought it himself.
