458RugerNo1Mark,
I've had mine nearly 2 years now and am very impressed with it. It's near-perfect as it comes out of the box - it's got virtually ever feature folks here desire in a heavy game rifle - and remember they probably spend up to a $1000 or more more dollars on those $600-$800 dollar rifles upgrading them to where the Ruger is out of the box. Just test fire and put it thru the ringer to be sure it's reliably functioning as it should before you hit the field.
Mine is accurate - all three express leaves are dead-on at 50, 100 and 200 yards with 300gr ammo - and has beautiful wood. The only thing I can complain about is I wish it was about a pound lighter - it's 10 lbs 3 ounces fully loaded (with iron sights). It's a very easy gun to shoot, recoil is very mild IMHO. The .375 H&H is a true classic in itself and needs no introduction of course.
The only changes I've made to mine has been to add the NECG white bead front sight and I slicked-up the action and feed rails with fine emory paper.
When scoped it wears a Leupold 1.5x5 VariX III in the factory rings.
I've learned to deal with that extra pound or so... simply by carrying and using it alot and getting used to it's heft. Like anything else you build up to it thru training. The other advantage? My MkII 30-06 feels like a flyweight now at 8 pounds lol!

jeffeossoother than some quibbling points about the stock design, the ONLY thing wrong with the ruger RSM is the weight... the outside of the barrel is indentical from 270 to 458 lott... and all a hair too heavy...
now, if the butt was 1/2" tall and wider, had an english cheekpiece and the woodline ran at the loading port, it would look VERY nice...
alot like this

mark65x55That is NICE!

I played with a CZ 375 today at the gun shop. It was OK, I guess I could live with it, but it didn't yell "buy me". The stock felt sorta big and chucky, and I've got pretty good size hands. Plus I wasn't too crazy about the safety, it felt rather stiff. I did like the feel of the bolt and the fact that it holds 5 rounds is a plus. Also the price wasn't too bad at $767 plus tax. But.........I'm still trying to find 375 happiness.
