byf42, get in contact with the guys at the CZ custom shop. There is a possibility that they may want to install some crossbolts and bedding to the stock. The earlier production models lacked these features and some of the stocks have failed as a result. CZ should work with you on that, especially with it being a 505Gibbs. Rodney.

There should always be a lug at the receiver, and the 505s should also have one on the barrel. I wouldn't fire the weapon until rectified, you run a serious risk of cracking or shattering the stock. John

Start by calling CZ-USA toll free number and ask to speak to warranty department about issue of no crossbolts in the .505 Gibbs, early production. One member here said CZ-USA offered to add them for free, since they are standard on the current production: 800-955-4486 That will also give them a chance to check for "marble grip" in your stock. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. CZ "went off half-cocked" on the first run of .505s, however they seem to be conscientiously making up for it.

Yes, identical dimensions as the CZ550. byf42, on cannons like these, I'd also include a barrel-mounted recoil lug. NRA Life Member, Band of Bubbas Charter Member, PGCA, DRSS. Shoot & hunt with vintage classics.

juha458wm, Yes it would be possible to rebarrel and open up the action to the Gibbs for sure, I don't know the rim diameter offhand for the T-Rex so I'm not sure if the bolt can be opened up that far for it. The gibbs would be a better choice as brass is tough to get and even more expensive for the T-Rex. Actually the 600 OK would be the choice of cartridges for the big stuff in the CZ550 Magnum and BRNO ZKK 602. Rodney.

I currently have an early CZ550 in .458Lott back at their Triple River Gunsmiths who do their custom work, for installation of crossbolts. No problem getting it done. I first called CZ and they referred me directly to TRG where Harlan was very helpful. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

Harlan rebarreled my CZ 550 in 375 H&H to 500 Jeffrey. I am very happy with his work and they stand behind it. Chuck Regards, Chuck "There's a saying in prize fighting, everyone's got a plan until they get hit" Michael Douglas "The Ghost And The Darkness"
