Ok, so you fellas really think you have some big bore rifles? .470 NE=small, .577NE=small, .600OK=small, 8bore= a little bigger but not really that big. You fellers take a look at REAL big bores.

What are those rounds used for? I assume they are military rounds but would be interested to hear more.

From Left to right I recognize #1 & #5

#1 the left most is a 20mm Aircraft round as used in the M61 Vulcan cannon.

#5 is a 30mm GAU8 "Avenger" round

Now for the guesses:
I believe that #2 is a 25mm cannon round from one of the helicopter cannons like those used on the Apache
I also believe #4 is a "chain gun" round from a Bradley Fighting vehicle.

the very last one #8 looks like a 40mm Bofors (AA?) round Should look familiar to anyone who's seen WW2 naval wartime footage and seeing those rounds fed to the guns in 5-round "en
bloc" clips.

But I'm just guessing....

Is the last one really a bofors? I have some empty brass loaded on one of those 4 or 5 pack speedloaders from a AC130 gunship, and the brass is not really as long, and the rim is not as thick. Maybe cause the plane has L60's in it instead of an L70?

No thank you! I'm kinda big at 6'0"tall and 220lbs. and i'm young at 16, but just becauser I'm young doesn't mean I'm dumb enough to shoot one of these rounds from a sholder fired weapon!

The M61 is 1541 grains at 3400fps if I recall from my AH-1 days.

In "Cartridges of the World" various 20 mm ammo are reported to have muzzle velocities from roughly 2,600 fps to 3,400 fps.

Velocities would depend upon the composition and thereby the weight of the projectiles which can include tungsten and depleted uranium.
