Managed to get 2 boxes of these today - they are about the most reasonably priced .416 bullets available in the UK so I thought at the very least they would make good practice fodder.

Of course, I'm more interested in their performance on Buffalo. Anyone have some first hand experience using this bullet?

I have only used the old Hornadys on Buffalo and they always worked well..I suspect these new Hornadys will work as well on Buffalo, most any solid will work on buffalo, it's elephants that make a solid fail.....

You should have access to the wonderful Woodleigh solids. Barnes solids are also excellent...the best solid is the GS Customs flat nose solid out of RSA...

I too have a box. Haven't fired them in anger just yet. I did, however ask a friend who owns a machine shop to mill one in half. I was surprised to find that the jacket is a full 1/8" thick ! This may turn out to be an interesting bullet.

Very interesting. So how thick is the copper cup at the base? I take it the jacket is slightly thinner than it appears from looking at the base?

I have loaded the FMJ Solids by Barnes Cal. 416 400gr.#41660 I was wondering are these bullets good enought to be used on dangerous game? Like breaking bones in Elephants heads. That woffeled big bone that protects the brain.

I am sure Barnes solids would be fine, as many have used them quite successfully on elephant.

I never got very good penetration on buffalo with a 375 H&H and Barnes solids. Why, I have no idea. But I quit using them (for no justifiable reason).

I have only used the Speer AGS solids of late and for the most part have been satisfied with their penetration, but the Hornady's should be fine.

My son used them on a buff and on the one bullet recovered the base was slightly protruding, much to my surprise.
