We had the 2nd shoot for the year yesterday.

Match consisted of 13 rounds total.

With more than seventy participants it was a day full of thunder and gun smoke...

The link with photos.

We do every year in Libby MT! I might argue that it is the best one going.

Thanks Gerard.

I saw a couple of Ruger No. 1s being used. That takes a lot of fast reloading.

The stage where the No 1's were photographed you had to shoot against the clock at the buffalo.

Pick up the rifle from the table, load 3 rounds, fire them, load 1 more, fire again and this should be done quickly because you have 20 seconds only.

Both the Rugers shot 4 rounds with time to spare compared to the bolt action rifles with scopes that just got 3 rounds down range.

Myself with the 460 G&A and a friend with his 404 Jeff were able to shoot 4 rounds in the alloted time, I shoot iron sights and my friend a red dot sight.

A scope on the rifle is definitely a hamper when needing to reload your rifle quickly in tight situations or shooting against the clock.

Its something that stood out in yesterday's shoot.

Both no1's featured are owned by my wife, I borrowed her 500NE for the shoot and she shot with her 'baby' in 416 Rigby.

As Gerhard explained when the bolts have to do a magazine reload the no1’s keep up easily. Interesting enough the Trijicon RMR on the 500NE lit up like a Christmas tree with red speckles with the low angle of the sun from the side.

Good fun had by all. Gerhard, excellent photography clap

That's great. I like my bolt gun with one in the chamber and three in the magazine.

I use a No. 1 for deer/antelope hunting now but I just carry one round between my fingers and 5 extra rounds on my belt.

Thank you,

What is the dot size on the RMR sight?

A lot of the bolt action guys got an education in slow is smooth and smooth is fast reloading.

What's that, Gerhard, the Ruger No. 1's were faster than bolt guns?

Indeed...

In the hands of a trained shooter that understand and practice regularly they are smooth.

Especially on that specific stage.

There is one such shoot in Libby MT every July and one in Phoenix in March

I run the AZ shoot and it is inspired by the MT and SA shoots.
