I had this gun made about 24 years ago with help from some of the members of this site. The gun was on one of the first runs of CZ550 on the market, a converted 416 rigby, 25" long 1"22 twist tobler barrel( Australian barrel maker) and synthetic stock. I sold the gun in about 2009 as I moved to the Middle east and Africa to live and work. For whatever reason it got a bit of internet interest.Turned up in an e-book about hunting dinosaurs, a cowboy romance novel, some kid of online games community, was erroneously listed on one site as an anti-tank rifle in ww1(!) and was also used by Marvel comics in their Venom Line, episode #156, 2017. https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Venom_Vol_1_156 In the story Kraven, some enemy of spidermans from the 60's is about to start hunting in the sewers and asks his Butler for the '585 Gehringer'. At one point he shoots and wounds Venom with it. No idea why Marvel chose my calibre, I guess they searched elephant guns and they liked the name. Anyway, Im looking to get another one done now. The first one was a synthetic stocked heavyweight, this one will be the proper safari style. The fella doing the work is the master gunsmith Anthony George from the NT( Northern territory, Australia). Anthony has done everything from high grade 404 jeffs, 600 overkills, 577 Rewa, 577 nitro, 500 Automax and oddball stuff like 50AE on lever actions just to prove it could be done. He is probably our version of a wayne Jacobsen and as I understand is on regular talking terms with Wayne, Dave at CH4D and the gents at Manson reamers.

I'll get some pics going soon. At this stage some fired brass is getting sent to Manson reamers to make up a new reamer. CH4D still had a set of my dies in stock. I was highly surprised as I had one set custom made over 20 years ago and did not expect them to have another set in stock after all this time. Here is a pic of the orginal gun, on the left. At the time I was just putting it together on available components hence the heavy target stock, bull barrel. The new one will be along safari lines.
