Whats the guess folks ??

If we all send e-amils to cz saying we want them to chamber the .458 lott as standard do you think this would hurry them up, has anyone got the adress of the blokes we could pester until they produce it to shut us up [Big Grin]

If they make it I will buy it as soon as they get to Oz.

PC,

May be you can used this link to see contacts at CZ Headquarters. If you are lucky they will reply you [Big Grin]

I'd prefered a .450 Ackley as Ruger has alreay a .458 lott as standard caliber.

PC, are you trying to put the gunsmiths out of business?? [Big Grin] I know I would want one of those lotts... I do agree with ber007 bout the ackley being the better one for a reloader, but with factory ammo in .458 Lott now being available I abandoned the "ackley-dream".

trb,

thats probably why I will opt for a .458 lott as well, I like it more than the .450 rigby for you get to keep that big mag capacity of the cz's, I need that for Aussie game [Big Grin] I will use my lott with el cheapo 45/70 bullets.

Beeroo7 I will e-mail them now and start nagging [Wink]

Paul,

I don't have a good view into the inner workings at Chay Zed, but a letter to them with an order for 100 rifles would probably get a lott of attention (pun intended). [Wink]

I sent an e-mail to the person in Bernards link who handles CZ USA Alice.P

I think if all our American friends begin nagging we have a better hope, as the market is a lot bigger there than in Oz "land of the great 22/250 hunters" [Roll Eyes]

Hell, PC,
I don't see how they COULD keep chambering for the 38 special of bigbores, the 458 win... when the 357 mag is right available...

I'll write em... just to annoy em

For all the yanks, email
info@cz-usa.com

ask them to begin chambering the CZ550 safari in 458 Lott, asap, as ruger is going so

btw, ruger's website SUCKS... you would think that after making a model gun for 30 years, they could have a pciture of it.

I have spoken to the CZ Factory at length about the need to change the stock design and chamber for 458, Ackley, Lott. The will not. An order of 100 rifles will not even raise an eyebrow from these guys( paraphrase from the factory rep.). They have several requests for a stainless rifle and a synthetic stock rifle option before they consider any other changes or add calibers. They will not even consider a .338 Win Mag!

I hope this does not get you down

First, CZ would have to announce that they are discontinuing the .458 cambering (without mentioning future plans). This would ensure that current rifles are scooped up by consumers fearing the worst. Once there are no more .458 rifles collecting dust with CZ distributors (like CZ-USA), then they will announce a limited production of .458 Lott rifles. After the initial run is sold at a premium, they will go into full production at a reasonable price.
This process takes 6-10 years from the decision to do so. Just ask the folks at Ruger, they use to make a 77 in .458 Winnie.

Sorry to bring the bad news, but no company in its right mind is going to create an improved version of a product until the original product is sold out. Their distributors would raise hell if they were stuck selling the original version at a loss, because everyone wanted the new one instead.

So Kurt do you see it happening ??

Looks Like I will be buying the .458 win mag and reaming it, I would prefer it straight of the shelf however.

I haven't tried it muself, but others who have all say that taking a BRNO/CZ from .458 Win Mag to .458 Lott is the simplest conversion going.

I have heard that the rifle will feed solids without further modifications, but that feeding soft points requires a bit of work.

If I wanted a Lott on the Chay Zed, I would go out and buy the .458 WM version and just have at it. I have bent my pick on trying to get the Steyr factory to "do something", so I sympathize with those trying to get CZ off top dead center.

I have had several meeting with Steyr in regards to this also. On the US side they were receptive but not enthusiastic. They will be bringing out a Safari grade SBS gun very soon. We spoke at length a CRF and caliber options neither were answered yes or no. We did discuss the Lott as being a very good option.
