Who makes carrying cases for 416 Rigby size cartridges? I checked MTM and didn't see any listed. I'm looking for cases that hold either 10 or 20 cartridges. Any ideas?

MTM BUF-10, available from Sinclair, and probably from Natchez and others. Holds, as you might guess, 10 cartridges, nose to base & staggered when closed. A little thick, but, then, so are the Rigby cases .

I have some at home that hold 20 rds, two rows of ten. Smoke colored plastic cases, I'll check tonight. They are the slip cover type.

I have a couple of slip top 20's that will hold my 500 Jeffrey cases, they might hold up to 577. I don't recall who made them, will have to check, but they are out there.

I picked mine up from Midway. They came out with a new size this year the #511 and the #211 They will hold the 416 just fine. The 511 holds 50 and the 211 holds 20 and is a slide top. They list them for 416 Rigby. My 338/404 rattles around in them so they should fit.

I buy two of thoes black nylon cartridge belts from Cabellas at $6.95 each and sew them together lenth wise and loops in line, then sew the bottom loop shut...Works great for big bore cases and keep them covered well..the nylon does not grab and hold like leather and they slip out very easy (handy in a tight situation)and will not pull the belt up...The bottom is sewed so the rounds don't work out while hunting...Holds 24 rounds..

I also have a couple of belts made in zimbabwe...greem heavy canvas and leather..Most of the DGR PH's use them as they designed them. The loops are spaced about 1" apart and make it very easy access per round..very nice indeed.

So let's change the topic to belts. I got one of the canvas/leather shell belts made one time when I was in Harare. The idea behind the canvas is that they will dry from sweat faster than all leather belts.

Had the bootmaker make some more over the years as a favor to me (much to his dismay, they weren't boots). The problem is that they are a lot of luggage for the number of casrtidges that they hold.

I guess I've come full circle and like the now-obsolete Pachmayr rubber shell holders that slip on the belt. I got more different kind of shell belts than I got sense; I guess my lack of sense shows in the number of shell belts. Oh well.

I am afraid I'm too old to become half the man that can carry around 24 rounds of 470's.

Will,
On the elephant trak or hunting Buffalo, I will carry no less, one never knows what will come to be in Africa and the farther north you get the more rounds you should carry....I have seen more than several Buffalo absorb more than 10 rounds of big bore and still be on their feet..All my Ph's carry 24 and have the tracker carry another 20 in his pack....

You should try the CAbellas two belt system as I described, cheap and light as a feather.

I guess I'm too pretentious for a nylon belt. I guess I'll stick with the leather belt and slip on shell holders.

I carry about a dozen shells, though have only once needed more.

The other interesting situation is the guy that comes along without a rifle, because he is not hunting anything that day, in dangerous game country. After the first unarmed encounter with dangerous game, he's back carrying the rifle on every trip more than 10 yards from the Cruiser!

There is a guy here in Utah named Simon Aardema who does some GREAT leather cartridge belts and holsters. His prices are pretty good for 100% custom work and his stuff is gorgeous! His number from inside the U.S is 801-968-3337 if anyone in interested.
