I just paid $140.00 for 40 brass cases, Norma and $190.00 for 100 pieces, Bell. Is the Norma worth it, will I get more loadings out of the Norma?

gi,

The .470 is a low pressure cartridge. I have not had problems with Bell cases as far as "case life" is concerned.

One minor problem I have had will all brands of cases is rim thickness. About 30% of case rims are too thick to allow the action to completly close. They can be turned down but it is a pain.

Good luck;
Brett

I prefer the Bell. Do you have a source for any more?

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! One thing that is interesting about Bell brass vs. Norma is that the Bell brass is thicker and seems to be more durable to me. The Bell brass is also slightly longer than Norma, since the case is thicker, allowing for additional internal volume. Even with the extra length, the Bell brass only has internal volume of 96% of a Norma case, which simply means you have slightly less space to fill if you're shooting RL-15 as I do. Your wad adjusts for this difference.
My Norma cases average 3.235" in length, while Bell averages 3.247". 3.25" is listed as the maximum case length for .470NE.
This difference in case size and design does impact the performance of your loads. You'll need to monitor your performance if you are switching between the two cases. Even though the difference is not large, it should impact the convergence of your POI at 50 yards as the bullet's speed is raised or lowered.
