Never ever ever heard of a Swift bullet (A-frame) failure.

My experience with the .416 Wea. was underwealming. Two pissed-off Buf shot in Tanzania(90F)(40-80yds) required too many shots(in the right place)which was unfortunate because after 3 shots the rifle(Weatherby),would lock up due to stuck cases.A bad situation made worse by the ejector plunger peeling brass off the case face and jamming the ejector. Several of the Swift A-Frames came un-glued. I suspect theres not much wrong with the .416 Wea.cartridge that a good .416 Rigby load wouldnt cure.

Several of the Swift A-Frames came un-glued. I suspect theres not much wrong with the .416 Wea.cartridge that a good .416 Rigby load wouldnt cure. It sounds as if the Swift A Frame is a shit bullet. Weatherby 416 ammo is lucky to make much over 2600 f/s (and some is under 2600 f/s) and that velocity makes the Swift A Frames fall apart but if they are loaded to 2400 f/s they would be OK. Given that you said several of the Swift A Frames came un glued it was not an isolated incident. What if a 416 Rigby owner found a nice accurate load that happened to be doing 2500 f/s with Swift A Frames. Let's assume his buffalo was only 10 feet away... then he has the same problem you had at 40 yards as the impact velocity would be about the same. At 80 yards your velocity from Weatherby factory ammo would be well under the 416 Rigby shooter shooting at 20 feet range. The bottom line is that Swift A Frames should be avoided by both 416 Rigby and 416 Remington shooters, unless the buffalo is at some distance. Mike
