Just picked up the Super Express I was asking about earlier in the week. Got it yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised with the wood. O/A fit and finish is decent. I'll try to get some pictures up in a day or two. Question: Reading in the manual, it says that you can load a round straight into the pipe. Says you may feel slightly to substantially increased resistance in closing the bolt, but it's ok. Any input on this? I thought it was a no-no to to hand feed a CRF rifle. Are these new ones designed different? Thanks, David

The newer Model 70s can handle this with no problem; of course, replacing the MIM'ed extractor with a steel one would be good idea. Military Mausers (and some others) could be loaded this way, if you manipulated the extractor a bit. George

Thanks George. Just wanted to double-check. That's great, means the gun will carry 4 total. As for the extractor, the gun's probably gonna go to Mark Penrod after I get the new worn off of it and can turn it lose for a little while. Gonna let him go through it, slick it up and make a great rifle out of a good one. Thanks again, David

If you replace the magazine spring with the one produced by Wisner, you can get four .375's into the Model 70's magazine. George

George, do you have a web adress of that Wisner spring? Thanks Klaus

Penrod replaces the mag spring with a M700 spring, works very nice. Definitely ditch the MIM extractor and replace it with one of the milled ones that Williams makes.
