I have located a nice Whitworth in 375H&H but I can't quite figure out what model the rifle is. It is stamped Whitworth but it has no open sights. I thought all the Whitworths came with express sights? Did Mark X make models in 375H&H other than the express rifle? I thought I've read somewhere that there was an "Alaskan" model made at one point. Maybe some of you Whitworth guys can fill me in. Thanks.

Could be a possible special order.I also know of more than one person who has removed the sights,then have the holes professionaly filled (God forbid they been seen with a gun with filler screws in it!).Could be the case with this one too.

Hope you are able to get it.All my 375 deals have fallen through.Guess I'll have to be content with the sub-par deer gun of them all,my little 458 Winchester.

In 1983-84, Longs Drugstore in Anchorage had a sale on MarkX .375s. They were in regular whiteline spacer non-express stocks. Some had non-express sights some had no sights.They were all marked Whitworth. Guess Interarms was using up excess Whitworth stamped actions on cheaper rifles.

KenaiCapt is quite correct in his guess. The rifles in question were not made in England, but in the USA, from parts made mostly in the USA. The actions were mostly Zestava Ugo Mark X actions, but some were made on the Whitworth MK-X action when the standard actions were running short. The true Whiteworth "RIFLE" was built in Manchester, England, from Zestava MK-X actions especially finished for Whtiworth. ALL true Whitworth "RIFLES" were made with island express sights, and barrel band front sling swivel, and all parts are "STEEL". Only 375H&H, 458 Win Mag, and just a few 7mm Rem Mag rifles, by Whitworth, were improted into the USA by Interarms of Vergenia. All other rifles made on the Whitworth stamped MK-X action were made by other makers on the Whitworth action, not Whiteworth! Jeager, made quite a few of these so-called Whitworths. Though they are fine rifles, they are not Whitworth rifles,

The ones called "Interarms ALASKAN" came only in 375 H&H,338 Win Mag, and were not stamped Whitworth. They had Williams adjustable rear sight made of aluminum, and had the front swivel in the fore-wood. these were made in the USA. The 375H&H chambered rifles with no sights were made from spare parts, all new,and all American made except the action. They are mostly good rifles, but take many different foremats!

Thanks for filling me in about these "WHITWORTHS". I thought it was odd that this one lacked the island sights and barrel band. I'll keep searching I guess!

I'd like to hear your take on my "Whitworth". I got it for Christmas, I believe in 1991. The box was marked "Whitworth African Edition". The action is stamped "Manchester, England" (but not "Whitworth"). It had the Whitworth stock, complete with "Whitworth" stamped red rubber recoil pad. All parts are steel, and it has the island rear sight, but it does not have a barrel band.
