You really need to get a copy of A-squares Any Shot You Want manual. I don't have my copy handy, but as I recall the 470 Capstick is 2.85" and the 495 A-sq is 2.50", 500 A-sq is whatever the 460 Wetherby is.

The 495 A-sq is designed for standard length ie -06 length actions, the 470 Capstic and 500 A-sq require magnum length actions.

Here's the skinny direct from Any Shot You Want:

470 Capstick: Case 2.850", C.O.L 3.650"
495 A-Square: Case 2.800", C.O.L. 3.600"
500 A-Square: Case 2.900", C.O.L. 3.740"

It looks like all the above will need a long action. Furthermore, according to the book, it was the 460 Short A-Square that was designed to fit a standard length action. The 460 and 495 both use Weatherby based brass as does the 500.

I hope this sets you straight. And may I second Paul's suggestion: buy a copy of . Say what you will about the A-Square company, but the book makes for some pretty damned interesting reading.
