<Timberghost>Thanks for the help! .450 Ackley
Much thanks to all who who helped advise me on my .450 Ackley sticking cases. The A-Square brass, although new, was crap! I purchased the Hornady basic magnum cases from Midway and loaded the 86 grains of IMR4064 with the 400 A-frames and they work great. The Hornady brass is much tougher! This is most evident in the forming die & trimmer.
As to DBBill's comment about me being "da man" for shooting a 6.5 pound .450 Ackley. I don't look like much of a man when I shoot it and tears form in my eyes, snot flies out my nose, and I have developed a "gravel" sound in my left shoulder when I move it. I don't know what the gentleman I purchased it from was thinking for building such a light gun in this caliber. Then again, he evidently didn't didn't know either because I only found 3 fire-formed cases in the 40 that came with the gun. However, as a left handed big bore nut, I must grin, squeeze the trigger, and "take the pain".
Thanks again to all who helped, Timberghost

<Timberghost>Jeffe,
I have been looking for a stock for this one, but again, LH anything is a bitch to find.

I may have to get a custom stock built for it.

ACRecurveTimberghost,
Have you considered adding some lead or other weight to your rifle--3# or so would make ALOT of difference in recoil!
Good Hunting,

<Timberghost>Recurve,
I was considering a mercury supressor, but the stock is a Brown Precision synthetic and there is no good way to bond it in. The back of the stock is hollow and filled with foam with a bonded Pachmar pad. Its so light that it would blow away in the breeze if the barrel and action were taken out.

Mingbogo6.5 lb for a 450 Ackley? Did you put it on the bathroom scale to verify the weight? I did not like the idea of a 12 lb 458 Lott but 6.5 lb is just way too light for this caliber. I am not sure about IMR 4064 powder but I use VARGET with Hornady's 500-grain RNSP in my 450 Ackley and I was shooting at around 2250 fps. Although this load is not bad at all for the shoulder, especially with a Triple X magnum pad but on the bench, the rifle recoils violently. I just cannot imagine shooting this load with your 6.5 lb rifle. Have fun.
