Any Gentlemen out there that have experience firing a 458 Lott in a 450 Ackley chamber,if chronographed, what is the average velocity loss. And also, if a .458 Win. was fired in the same chamber what was its velocity loss. Thanks
In a 22", 1:10twist barrel, I got basically the same exact performance from my Ackley reloads and Hornady factory Lott ammo. Both were clocking just over 2300fps with 500 grain Hornady softpoints. I'm sure others have pulled out the tricks necessary to get a little more performance from their Ackleys but it made no useful difference in my rifle.

Commander, the 450 Ackley is the one to have. It'll take anything from 458 Win Mag, 458 Lott, 450 Watts, and of course the Ackley. One of the rifles I most regret having sold was a Griffin & Howe Model 70 in 450 Ackley. What was I thinking...DAMN!!!

I have to say I think the 450 Ackley is the best of the big .45"s. Its versatile, accurate, easy to shoot and easy to build. No flies on this guy!-Rob

Lott fired in Lott, WinMag in Lott, WinMag in Ackley, Lott in Ackley, Ackley in Ackley - all worked flawlessly.
FWIW, 75gr of H4895 under a Hornady 500gr SP loaded in Hornady Basic brass to an OAL of 3.37" (WinMag equiv) clocked 2170fps from the above 22" .450Ackley; another confirmation of practically no velocity loss firing Lotts and WinMags in an Ackley chamber.
My only dislike was that it allows a 3.650" OAL and loading to a maximum length can cause hangups in the mag box. The 3.600" length of the Lott precludes this.
